007_LOW-HIGH-RISE

An iconic condition is created when a building is differentiating its appearance to the utmost from the context. Icons which create land-marks have started to loose their function in a city like Dubai, where buildings compete with each other to be iconic. Our approach copes with achieving iconic city-qualities through distinguishing building heights. The preceptor’s change of position is influential for stimulating the legibility of buildings. Through deceiving the viewer in terms of building height, the perceptional canvas is cleaned up for icons to appear more distinctively. The field contains x buildings which all are different from, but dependent on each other - shaped by the same set of tools. Four parameters - building width, street width, equator width, and equator height - are adjusted in order to gain special spatial qualities by being able or not being able to perceive the cornice. The actual height of the buildings is a frozen parameter. Main areas are manually created in order to achieve specific urban situations through which the rest of the field is generated.
