005_THE NAKED CITY - a generative situationist theory

“…in a dÈrive one or more persons during a certain period drop their usual motives for movement and action, their relations, their work and leisure activities, and let themselves be drawn by all the attractions of the terrain and the encounters they find there.” Leaning on Guy Ernest Debord’s contention, we projected the bottom-up idea of the derivation onto the Thames Gateway urban plan. Four main arguments concluded out of our research on the Situationist Movement of the 1960’s. First of all, we are leading for a polycentric approach; and creating, secondly, a diversity and variety of “psychological climate zones”, known in the Situationist theory for stations on the drift. Due to the multitude of those unities of ambiances, the number of directions increases and the master plan is fanning out in all directions, and encourages, last but not least the experience of the drift. Formally, we base our polycentric vision on the voronoi pattern, which we are feeding with contextual input maps and extracting a component tissue to ensure an urban emerging and parametric design.
