005_ELEMENT OF CRIME

The basic structure of the effect we aim to achieve, which is a surface defined by gradients of opposite qualities, is built up by a simple component, a two-layered element, consisting of a wireframe that originated from a regular line grid which was then morphed and interconnected by introducing a secondary curve structure. The component with its certain subsystems consisting of light and colour qualities operates whithin this overall seam system connecting the zones within the building and generates transitions between them by frequently being modulated in specific ways due to the specific correlation of the individual interior utilization. The component define at the same time the appearance of the furniture and light and cause specific atmospheres at each particular area, especially when joined together into a larger field of components. Correlating with each other the elements are arranged in a regular grid which builds up the basic system for different kind of grid performances like shifts or smooth gradients. Adding light and colour properties to the component leads to an additional layer of emergence which depending on the surface qualities acts in different states of appearance or disappearance, becomes transparent and illuminated from underneath, lightens itself and stimulates the atmosphere and aesthetics of each specific surface. Colour appears when ornament turns into function. Related to the geometry of the component the colour emerges accentuating the porous bony structure of chair and table legs, edges and gaps as well as supporting the appearance of softness with a colour gradient when the component is modulated into soft cushion seats. The cushions fold up out of the floor ornament orientated and visually connected to the bar and dining area as well as the entrance hall. The floor elements continuously merge into the ceiling where they perform relating to the furniture conditions below, in a range of soft enlighted volumes to spot bright linear leading lights for orientation purposes.
