CONVERGENT INDUSTRIAL DESIGN 2 (ID2)

For the Winter-semester 2012/2013, the next entrance exam will be at the University of Applied Arts, Vienna at the department ID2, from 27. – 29. of February 2012, 9:00 – 18:00 every day. Within three days candidates will have to work on several different tasks in the field of design...

PRECONDITIONS:

A general qualification for university entrance (matura or equivalent) is a precondition for studying at ID2.

DATES FOR PORTFOLIO SUBMISSION:

Please bring your portfolio and a registration form between 22. – 24. of February 2012 daily from 9:00 – 12:00. There will be a pre-screening on the basis of the portfolios.

Your portfolio should represent yourself, your talents and the way you think and work.
Make a design-specific portfolio that shows the concepts of your projects (maybe you do not have the skills yet to deliver a perfect project but a short text can illustrate the ideas behind it)
Less is more: focus on the design-essentials and only show work you are really proud of.
Do not exceed A3 format and please attach three dimensional objects only as photographs - do not bring originals. When delivering your work in digital media, please attach a handout.

PROCESS OF ENTRANCE EXAM:

Within three days candidates will have to work on several different tasks in the field of design: e.g. modeling of a “natural” object, ideation skills in small teams and also a quick design task of an everyday object (hardware and/or software). Additionally, personal interviews will be conducted to determine personal motivation and educational background, cultural and conceptual talents as well as communicational skills. We then will select our future students on the 3rd day.

TEACHING LANGUAGES:

The international teaching team of Convergent Industrial Design 2 (ID2) is able and willing to teach in both German and English. However, the majority of lectures, seminars and exercises within the university are in German only. Hence, although knowledge of the German language is not a prerequisite for admission, the student must demonstrate reasonable fluency after the first semester. Language courses are offered.
