For people who cannot see and hear, there´s a new complex of problems arising in all aspects of life. The deafblind suffer from their visual and hearing impairment and from dependence and isolation linked to that.
Famous deafblind woman Helen Keller, speaker and author, was inspiration for creating a watch for the deafblind, giving people with that special impairment a new kind of independence.
The Helen Keller Pocket Watch combines satisfaction of the sensitive haptic perception with an easy to use "feel interface" free from any stigma.
Through activation of the touch sensitive centre of the watch, time can be felt like on a normal watch over a thin membrane.
Piezoelectrical impulses lead to three-dimensional dots in form of hands showing the time.
